About

Hello. My name is Jayme, founder of backgroad, a resource for cycling enthusiasts looking for epic adventures. I live in the Midcoast region of Maine on a horse farm. My goal is to share routes and ideas on some of my favorite rides that I think you should try someday.

A native Californian, I have had the opportunity to live all across the United States always with some form of bicycle. I spent the first 20 years of my cycling life on a rigid 26’er riding all over my hometown of Sacramento to fishing holes and on the local bike path trying to chase serious racer types. I eventually got into road cycling and dabble a little in racing (mostly in circles). It seemed inevitable that my background in early mountain biking and passion for riding far and fast would lead me to gravel riding. Married to a Maine native, I eventually found myself moving to Union Maine where I discovered a hidden gem of an area full of excellent backcountry roads and groads. I hope you find inspiration with the stories, images, and rides I share with you and create some memories of your own.

P.S. Yes I know I have a salt loss issue ;-)
